The Vineyard and FruitSecurity Holland
In 2016, the Netherlands had 88 companies with viticultural activities with a total of 155 hectares. Today, this is still increasing, mainly in the provinces of Limburg and Gelderland. All together, Dutch vineyard owners produce around 1 million bottles per year.
Due to climate changes and better resistant varieties, Dutch viticulture is on the rise. Viticulture is also professionalising by leaps and bounds. While Austria and Italy have been building their own Jacket vineyard system in recent years, we are also seeing increasing interest in this system in the Netherlands. The Jacket Vineyard System offers protection against hail, birds and insects. The flat hail net is also possible above vineyards.
